ME
My personal mark is rooted in imagination, belief, and the forces that have shaped who I am as a designer and as a person.
The diamond form represents protection, transcendence, and clarity. It’s inspired by a long-standing visual association I’ve carried with me while listening to “Ice Cube” by Juno Reactor—a song that, for years, has sparked a feeling of elevation and immersion. In my mind, I’m suspended in space as layers form and dissolve around me. When the structure breaks apart, it isn’t destruction—it’s release. That rhythm of building, breaking, and reforming has deeply influenced how I think about creativity.
I’m drawn to symbolism, mysticism, and ancient ideas of balance—nature, energy, and the concept of the four corners. These themes surface naturally in my work, not as decoration, but as a way of grounding imagination in meaning.
The cross within the diamond reflects the influence religion had on my upbringing. I grew up Catholic in the South, and that experience—especially as a gay man—was complex and formative. While I don’t align with organized religion today, it shaped my internal world, my sense of morality, and my relationship with belief. For me, the cross is less about doctrine and more about reflection, questioning, and the search for goodness.
The final vertical line intersecting the mark serves two purposes. Visually, it creates balance and movement. Personally, it mirrors how I sign my name—my own “G.” Symbolically, it’s a reminder to strive for good, to look inward, and to seek guidance—whether that’s through creativity, the universe, or human connection.
Every line in this mark was drawn slowly and intentionally. It represents emotion, curiosity, contradiction, and love—forces that continue to guide my work. Creativity, for me, is a way to explore identity, find peace, and build something meaningful from lived experience.
